Choose between a Colorado history and a court file

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Criminal History Check, ICHC, is a name-based search of Colorado arrest history supported by fingerprints. It does not supply other states’ or federal database records. Public results exclude warrants and sealed records; CBI also withholds juvenile arrest information through this service. If an arrest was not supported by submitted fingerprints, it may be absent. A no-record response is therefore narrower than proof that someone has never had a criminal case.

If you already know the case and need its complaint, judgment or dismissal, request that document from the court instead. Colorado’s commercial court-search providers display registers of actions, not copies of filed documents. Their information is not the official court record and does not represent every case or case type. A repository report, a docket reference and a certified court copy answer different questions.

Prepare an exact-name ICHC search

The ICHC home page offers a one-time credit-card search without creating an account. Enter the exact spelling of the person’s name and the correct birth date. The individual-search instructions say to omit suffixes such as Jr., Sr. or II. Social Security number is optional and can improve matching when known and lawfully available. Check the identity fields before proceeding; the search does not correct a mistyped name for you.

Known maiden or alias names may require separate searches, each with its own charge. When several candidates match, compare the available identifying details before purchasing additional records. A common name is not enough to attribute a criminal history to someone. The service also requires agreement that the records will not be used for direct solicitation of business for financial gain.

Calculate searches and additional record views separately

The individual terms impose a nonrefundable $6 charge for every search, even when it produces no result. If multiple records match, at least one must be selected for viewing; each additional matching record selected costs another $6. Thus one search plus two additional record views totals $18, while a separate alias search adds another search charge. The one-time page requires Visa or MasterCard.

The general FAQ summarizes the online price as $6 per report viewed, but the individual checkout terms expressly include unsuccessful searches and extra candidates. Budget using those detailed terms. If your recipient needs an official or notarized response on CBI letterhead, the FAQ lists a $13 manual request, up to three business days for processing plus mailing time, and no personal checks. Follow its current form and payment instructions for that different product.

For manual requests, CBI lists a U.S.-bank money order payable to CBI, or a signed business or cashier’s check payable to CBI and issued within 90 days. It also lists Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express through its credit-card form. Use the form linked in the FAQ and confirm mailing instructions before sending the request. These manual-payment options differ from the one-time online card choices.

Keep the original digitally signed report

ICHC offers real-time online responses, and its reports include a digital signature to authenticate the file and detect alteration. Save the original downloaded report intact along with the search receipt and date. A valid signature authenticates the supplied document; it does not prove a similar-name candidate is the person you meant to search. Confirm the intended recipient accepts an electronic signed report before paying for a notarized alternative.

Request the filing from the court that holds it

The Colorado Judicial Branch Access Guide links an online records request form for a case disposition or other document about a specified case or person. The responsible court contacts you after submission. You can also contact the court directly. Include the court, case number, party name and document description, and ask about certification and delivery charges. No universal court-copy turnaround is stated on that guide.

Denver County Court is administered separately: the guide directs its records inquiries to [email protected]. Do not send a Denver County Court request into a different state court’s file queue. If you only have a paid vendor result, preserve its court and case identifier and use those to request the actual document; the vendor cannot supply the filed copy.

Send record errors to CBI or the originating court

For criminal-history accuracy, contact CBI at 303-239-4208 or [email protected], Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Mountain Time. Identify the disputed entry and keep corroborating court paperwork. A court-data error should go to the court where the original record was created and filed. These are different correction paths, so explain which product contains the mistake.

For login, website or payment-processing problems, the service instead lists Logikco at 303-228-5503 or [email protected], Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Mountain Time. Its technical staff cannot view, modify or interpret criminal records. If a card is declined, contact its issuer; neither the site operator nor CBI can determine the bank’s reason.
